About Leesylvania

A 3,300-foot boardwalk crosses the tidal wetlands of Neabsco Creek near Leesylvania. Ten feet wide and fitted with two deck levels and three overlooks, the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk lets walkers watch the marsh without entering its fragile habitat. It is part of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail and links a larger trail corridor between Rippon Lodge and Leesylvania State Park. The boardwalk is open daily from dawn until about one hour after dark. Along the Potomac, the state park adds five hiking trails, river overlooks, a 300-foot accessible fishing pier, two boat ramps, and a canoe and kayak launch on Powells Creek. Because summer demand now reaches capacity, Virginia requires vehicle reservations on weekends and state holidays from June through September 2026.

The area's public institutions also support routines that have little to do with the waterfront. Northern Virginia Community College's Woodbridge Campus has five academic buildings, a sports field, a lake, and programs ranging from cybersecurity and engineering technology to data-center operations, cinema, and photography. Potomac Library provides 25 public computers, a 125-seat meeting room, children's and young-adult areas, a patio and garden, passport appointments, and test-proctoring services. Fare-free OmniRide Route 52 ties these places into a practical north-south corridor. Its current schedule runs between Dumfries and Triangle and the Woodbridge VRE station, with stops at the college on Neabsco Mills Road, Potomac Library, and Route 1 shopping areas.
