Legend Lake, WI

Legend Lake is a Menominee County community on the Menominee Indian Reservation, built around a spring-fed lake more than six miles long. The lake's residential development began during the 1960s termination era, when Menominee lands were being sold off; opposition to the plan became part of the movement that helped restore the reservation in 1973. Today the lake, its long shoreline, and the surrounding forest are inseparable from the place-name. Legend Lake is northeastern Wisconsin in a water-and-tribal-history story.
