Lehigh, IA

Lehigh is a quiet river town tucked into the Des Moines River valley, about fifteen minutes south of Fort Dodge. The river runs straight through the middle of town, dividing it into two halves connected by a central bridge. You will still hear locals call the east side "Slabtown," a lingering nickname from the days when coal mines and clay factories drove the local economy. Today, it is a peaceful, tight-knit community surrounded by scenic wooded hills.

One of the best parts about living here is having the outdoors right in your backyard. Dolliver Memorial State Park sits just three miles northwest, known for its sandstone bluffs, shaded hiking trails, and easy river access for kayaking and fishing. Residents get to enjoy a calm, small-town routine, with the convenience of a quick drive into Fort Dodge for work, healthcare, and everyday shopping.
