Leisure City, FL

U.S. 1 and the South Dade TransitWay run along Leisure City's northwest edge, tying this unincorporated community to Homestead on one side and metropolitan Miami on the other. Miami-Dade's all-electric Metro Express began service in October 2025 with 14 stations between SW 344th Street and Dadeland South Metrorail; the SW 296th Street stop lies two blocks from Seminole Wayside Park. The parallel South Dade Trail extends about 22 miles in the same right-of-way, with a county redesign underway to add lighting, shade, drainage, seating, and stronger station connections. Leisure City includes the older Modello area and had 26,324 residents in 2020, up from 22,655 in 2010. Census estimates for 2020–2024 indicate that 81.1 percent of residents age five and older speak a language other than English at home. County facilities supply much of the community's shared space. In Modello, Coral Castle is listed in the National Register of Historic Places for its significance in art and engineering.

Naranja Branch Library on SW 280th Street has a 76-person meeting room, drive-up Wi-Fi, mobile printing, family storytimes, and a teen advisory committee that helps choose books and plan programs. Nearby Naranja Park runs a summer pool and splash area plus school-year and seasonal camps; Live Like Bella Park on Illinois Road provides another county after-school and camp site for ages six through fourteen. Seminole Wayside preserves a different side of South Dade within 27.7 acres: more than 21 acres are globally imperiled pine rockland, supporting two federally listed endangered plant species and 24 state-listed species, behind a coral-rock wall built by the Works Progress Administration in the late 1930s. The park can be reached from both the TransitWay stop and South Dade Trail.
