Lemon Cove, CA

Lemon Cove lies in Tulare County where the San Joaquin Valley rises toward the Sierra Nevada foothills. The community’s name fits its agricultural setting, but its larger history is tied to the roads leading into Sequoia country. Before the national parks were easy to reach by modern highways, travelers for the Giant Forest bought tickets in Lemon Cove for the Sequoia National Park Transportation Company. The town therefore sat at the lower end of a mountain journey, connecting valley residents, pack roads, and visitors headed toward the high country.

Today Sequoia Union Elementary School District serves local children, while Exeter Unified covers high school grades. Tulare County’s Lemon Cove Community Plan addresses the mix of rural homes, agriculture, small businesses, and foothill access that shapes the settlement. The nearby park roads and Sierra recreation bring visitors through, but the community’s working life remains tied to orchards, irrigation, school schedules, and the valley floor.
