Leroy, TX

Leroy is a city in northeastern McLennan County, Texas, at the intersection of Farm roads 308 and 2311 about 14 miles northeast of Waco. The 2020 census counted 354 residents. The city sits in the Waco metropolitan area, but its daily map is rural: ranch and farm roads, small businesses, and the broad prairie between Waco and the communities of northern McLennan County. West Independent School District serves Leroy, along with Tours, Gerald, Ross, and West. The city stays close to the farm country.

Leroy once centered on its own common-school district, then joined West ISD in 1948. That change reflects the regional ties that organize life in small Texas cities, where schools and services often connect several nearby communities. Farm roads 308 and 2311 still meet at the city, keeping Leroy easy to place on the county map. It remains a compact McLennan County city with a school-district history, a Waco connection, and a crossroads setting away from the larger highways.
