Lewisville, AR

Lewisville is the Lafayette County seat, with US Route 82 crossing the south side and Arkansas Highway 29 running through the center. Highway 29 leads north to Hope and south to Bradley, while US 82 runs east toward Magnolia and west toward Texarkana. The two highways give the city a practical cross-shaped map and keep the courthouse town connected to the surrounding southwest Arkansas communities. Lewisville feels like a place where the county's roads and county government meet in one compact street grid.

The Lafayette County School District is based at 712 Chestnut Street and lists Lafayette County Elementary and Lafayette County High School. The district formed in 2003 when the Lewisville and Stamps school districts consolidated, extending the town's educational footprint beyond its own street grid. The high school at 1209 Alexander Lane and the elementary campus make education one of the clearest current threads running through the county seat.
