Lexington Park, MD

Lexington Park is a St. Mary's County community near the Patuxent River and Naval Air Station Patuxent River. Before the base was established, the area was largely tobacco farms; today the Navy, defense contractors, and technical jobs shape much of the local economy. The Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge connects the area across the Patuxent River toward Calvert County. Lexington Park is busy and practical, with apartments, shopping centers, schools, and base traffic giving it a different feel from older Southern Maryland waterfront towns.
