Lexington is an independent city and the county seat of Rockbridge County, Virginia, situated in the scenic Shenandoah Valley. First settled in 1778, the historic community of approximately 7,525 is best known as the home of both the Virginia Military Institute and Washington and Lee University. Public education is administered by the Lexington City Public Schools district.
