About Liberty

Liberty is the county seat of Clay County, Missouri, and a Kansas City suburb with older civic roots than many metro communities. It was settled in 1822 and soon became the county seat. Liberty is home to William Jewell College and the historic Liberty Jail, both of which give the city a distinct historical and institutional profile. Major employers include a Hallmark distribution warehouse, but the city still feels anchored by its courthouse-square history and its role in the north side of the Kansas City region.
