Lime Springs, IA

Lime Springs is a quiet community of under 500 residents in Howard County, set right along the scenic Upper Iowa River. The town has a unique layout that developed in two distinct waves: first around the river mill in the north, and later around the railroad tracks to the south. That gentle divide between historic Old Town and the main district gives the area a relaxed, spacious feel with plenty of small-town charm.

Local recreation centers around Lidtke Mill, a preserved 19th-century landmark open for weekend tours throughout the summer. The adjoining park is a favorite spot for camping, kayaking, shore fishing, and family picnics by the water. Every August, the whole community turns out for Sweet Corn Days, a long weekend of events featuring a town parade and servings of free sweet corn. For families moving to the area, local students attend the Howard-Winneshiek Community School District, with campuses located a short drive away in Cresco.
