Lincoln, PA

Lincoln Borough sits in the hilly, wooded country southeast of Pittsburgh, with the Monongahela and Youghiogheny rivers shaping its eastern and southern edges. The borough began as Lincoln Township, formed in 1869 after separating from Elizabeth Township, and was named for Abraham Lincoln. The present borough was declared in 1958 as pieces of the old township became separate communities including Liberty, Port Vue, and Glassport.

South Allegheny School District serves Lincoln along with Liberty, Glassport, and Port Vue. The borough has no post office of its own, so mail and errands spill naturally across the surrounding communities and zip-code lines. Allegheny County describes the terrain as very hilly and wooded, with river floodplains below the residential streets. Lincoln is part of the Pittsburgh region, but its local map is shaped by steep roads, old township boundaries, school connections, and the two rivers at the bottom of the hills. The Youghiogheny and Monongahela also keep boating, floodplain, and industrial history in the background of daily life.
