Linda, CA

North Beale Road and Lindhurst Avenue form the working spine of Linda, an unincorporated Yuba County community whose major destinations and commercial areas are arranged around high-volume roads. Yuba College's 160-acre main campus sits on North Beale Road in the agricultural eastern part of the community; the college has occupied that site since 1962. In 2020, Linda had 21,654 residents. Its land area was 8.59 square miles. Estimates for 2020–2024 show 7,389 households, an average household size of 3.22, and nearly one-third of residents under age 18. Owner occupancy was 56 percent, the median owner-occupied value was $371,700, monthly mortgage costs were $2,054, and median gross rent was $1,211. More than a third of residents age five and older spoke a language other than English at home. Several current projects reveal both the community's shared spaces and its infrastructure gaps. Yuba-Sutter Transit's Route 6 Linda Shuttle loops between Yuba College, the North Beale Transit Center, and Edgewater, with timed college transfers to Routes 1 and 3.

In West Linda, the county is rebuilding 22.5-acre Friendship Park. The existing playgrounds, courts, picnic space, and community garden of more than seven acres maintained by Hmong residents are being incorporated into new walking and biking paths, pavilions, landscaping, lighting, and art; work began in 2026, with reopening projected for late summer or early fall 2027. The county is also designing sidewalks, bicycle facilities, lighting, shade, transit-stop improvements, and drainage along Lindhurst and North Beale, corridors it describes as heavily traveled but lacking continuous pedestrian infrastructure. Flood protection is another durable part of local geography. A six-mile Feather River setback levee completed in 2010 reduced flood risk for Linda and neighboring communities while creating nearly 1,500 acres of riparian floodplain habitat.
