Linville, VA

Linville is a census-designated place in Rockingham County that was first listed as a CDP for the 2020 census. Six miles north of Harrisonburg, it follows Linville Creek through the northern Shenandoah Valley; the 2020 census counted 355 residents. The county's history places Daniel Boone's wife and children in the Linville area during the early settlement period, and the creek name still provides the clearest geographic guide to the community.

Linville-Edom Elementary sits on Linville-Edom Road inside the community and is the most visible present-day public institution.
