About Lipscomb
Lipscomb is the unincorporated county seat of Lipscomb County, on State Highway 305 in the Wolf Creek valley. J. W. Arthur opened a store and post office there in 1886, and the town was chosen as county seat in 1887 after the anticipated railroad bypassed the site. Wolf Creek runs east across the county toward the Canadian River in Oklahoma, while the courthouse built in 1916 still stands at the center of county administration. Canadian ISD serves the community. Lipscomb's story is one of a county seat surviving beyond the rail line.
