Little Britain, PA

Little Britain is an unincorporated census-designated place in Little Britain Township, Lancaster County, along Pennsylvania Route 272. The community is part of the Solanco School District and sits in the southern Lancaster County farm belt, with Lancaster and Quarryville handling larger shopping, medical, and government needs. The township’s roads, volunteer fire services, land-use work, and sewage maintenance matter more to daily life than a separate municipal downtown. Little Conowingo Creek and the surrounding rural roads give the place its local shape.

Little Britain Township grew out of eighteenth-century settlement and was organized after residents petitioned to separate from the larger Drumore Township. The present community is one of several named places inside the township, so its history is shared with farms, churches, crossroads, and neighboring villages rather than held in one concentrated center. The name remains on the highway and mailing map, while school buses, township meetings, and the agricultural grid connect Little Britain to the wider southern Lancaster County community.
