Littleville, AL

Littleville sits on the southern edge of Colbert County and reaches into Franklin County, within the Shoals region of northwest Alabama. The town took its name from Captain Little, who kept a store at the settlement, giving the place a direct connection to the small stores and crossroads that once held rural communities together. Littleville’s geography is shaped by the transition between the Tennessee Valley and the hills south of the river, with Muscle Shoals, Tuscumbia, and Florence close enough to provide larger jobs and services.

Today Littleville works as a small residential town within the wider Florence–Muscle Shoals area. Town hall, local roads, churches, and nearby schools support everyday life, while the surrounding county still carries the region’s older mix of farms, quarries, manufacturing, and river commerce. The Shoals metro brings Littleville into a larger economic circuit without erasing its separate municipal line. Its strongest local detail remains the name itself: a storekeeper’s surname preserved on the map as the town grew around the road.
