Livermore Falls, ME

Livermore Falls sits on the Androscoggin River in western Androscoggin County, where the water also marks the line between Livermore Falls and neighboring Jay and Livermore. The area was once Abenaki territory called Rockemeka, a name translated as great corn place. Massachusetts granted it in 1771 as Port Royal to heirs of veterans of the 1710 campaign against Acadia. The river's falls later drew mills and industry, giving the town its working name and its long connection to timber, paper, and water power.

Today the three river communities share Spruce Mountain School District, which operates primary, middle, and high-school campuses for Jay, Livermore, and Livermore Falls. High school sports use the Spruce Mountain Tigers name, giving the district a shared athletic tradition. Roads lead south toward Lewiston-Auburn and west toward Farmington, while the Androscoggin remains the clearest way to read the town's geography. Downtown streets, former mill land, churches, school routes, and river crossings fill in the everyday map. Livermore Falls is an Androscoggin town where county lines, school lines, and old industrial lines all meet.
