Livermore, KY

Tucked into the point where the Green and Rough rivers meet, Livermore is a quiet McLean County town of about 1,200 residents. Life here moves at a relaxed pace, with U.S. 431 giving locals an easy drive north toward Owensboro. Historic 19th-century brick storefronts give the center of town a lot of character, including a charming local library branch that doubles as a community art gallery and local history space.

First settled in the 1830s as a river trading post, Livermore still takes much of its identity from the surrounding waterways. Boating and fishing are easy everyday pastimes, and the bridges spanning the rivers offer scenic water views on a daily drive through town. It has the feel of a classic, unhurried river community where neighbors know one another and the overall cost and pace of living remain comfortable.
