Liverpool, TX

Liverpool is a Brazoria County city with a name borrowed from England and a geography shaped by water, rail, and the Gulf Coast prairie. A trading post stood here by 1827; the settlement had a schoolteacher by 1836 and was formally established in 1837 as a shipping point on Chocolate Bayou for wool, hides, and produce from Stephen F. Austin’s colony. The Missouri Pacific line later ran through town, and County Road 171 still leads to the city hall on Calhoun Street.

Chocolate Bayou borders Liverpool on the east, while Main Street stretches northwest toward State Highway 35. Angleton is about 14 miles southwest and Alvin sits northeast, so the town’s small road grid points toward two larger Brazoria County centers. Students attend Alvin ISD schools, and Alvin Community College’s service area covers the surrounding district territory. Liverpool remains a small crossroads with a bayou edge, a rail line, a town hall, and a school map tied to the wider county.
