About Livonia

Livonia is a Putnam County village laid out on the edge of the Chariton River corridor. The 2020 Census counted 52 residents and 27 housing units. Absolam Grogan surveyed the town in 1859; its name likely came from a Cumberland Presbyterian log church, and Grogan ran a store there. A concrete boat ramp at Missouri's Archangel Access sits one mile east on U.S. 136, linking Livonia's street grid to the Chariton River. The village's present map joins a nineteenth-century town site to a public river access.
