Lobelville, TN

Lobelville is a Perry County city on the banks of the Buffalo River. The 2020 census counted 919 residents. Highway 13 runs through town, and city services include water, sewer, gas, garbage, public works, and a volunteer fire department. Lobelville School serves students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade; older students go to Perry County High School in Linden. The local civic map also includes a county library branch, city park and ballfields, and a downtown amphitheater used for Music on Main Street. The Buffalo River is not scenery at the edge of town; it is the route that ties the community's work, recreation, and older history together.

Lobelville began as a trading post on the Buffalo River in 1854, established by French trader Henri de Lobel and first called Lobelsville. Today canoeing, fishing, tubing, and river access remain part of the area's economy, while Mousetail Landing State Park lies nearby along the Tennessee River with trails, camping, boating, and fishing. The city's Buffalo River Springfest girls softball tournament began in 2009 and still brings county teams to the local fields. Lobelville's calendar is organized around the river, the school, the ballfields, and Main Street, with city services holding the everyday pieces together.
