Lockbourne, OH

Tucked along Big Walnut Creek just south of Columbus, Lockbourne is a quiet, historic village that straddles the line between Franklin and Pickaway counties. The town got its start in the early 1830s when the Ohio & Erie Canal was built, taking its name from a blend of the area's canal locks and its founder, Colonel James Kilbourne. The village takes pride in its military aviation heritage, featuring a local memorial wall honoring the Tuskegee Airmen and WASP pilots who trained at the former air base. With students served by Hamilton Local Schools and straightforward local services managed right on Commerce Street, it offers an easygoing, small-town lifestyle with the conveniences of the Columbus metro area just a short drive away.
