Logan, WV

Tucked into a narrow valley along the Guyandotte River, Logan serves as the welcoming county seat of Logan County. Even with a population of around 1,400, the town functions as a convenient central hub for the surrounding area. Residents have easy access to everyday essentials, from local shops downtown to major regional resources like Logan Regional Medical Center and Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. U.S. Route 119 runs right through the valley, making it simple to commute or explore neighboring communities.

Originally settled in the early 1800s and later named for Mingo leader Chief Logan, the town developed rapidly with the arrival of the railroad and the region's historic coal and timber industries. Today, that mountain history blends with small-town warmth and plenty of outdoor recreation, including easy access to the popular Hatfield-McCoy Trails. Logan even holds some fun claims to fame, like being the childhood home of heavyweight boxing legend Jack Dempsey.
