Louisville, NE

Louisville is a Cass County city set between Omaha and Lincoln, on the Platte River about 18 miles west of Plattsmouth. Gardner Powers established the first settlement in 1857, but the place really took shape after rail and bridge links arrived: a toll bridge crossed the Platte in 1909, and a Missouri Pacific depot followed. The city's industrial history is written in limestone and cement; Ash Grove's plant dates to 1882 and still operates. Mill Creek runs through town, tying older flood and storm stories to the street map. Today, Louisville's local calendar includes the Last Hot Sunday car show, and the B.U.I.L.D. organization works with businesses on events and city promotion. Louisville is a small Nebraska city with a useful location in the Omaha-Lincoln corridor, a Platte crossing in its history, and a cement plant that outlasted the railroad boom.
