Louviers, CO

Louviers is a small Douglas County community along U.S. 85 south of Denver, built around a very specific industrial history. The DuPont Company laid out the town in 1906 and named it after the family estate in Delaware; the post office followed in 1907. Company planning shaped the streets, houses, clubhouse, and shared facilities, giving Louviers a coherent village form in a landscape that otherwise spreads across prairie and foothills.

DuPont's plant is gone, but Louviers still carries the feel of a company town adapted to ordinary residential life. The clubhouse and library remain part of the community's story, the post office keeps the place legible on the road, and Douglas County services connect residents to schools, jobs, and the Denver-Castle Rock corridor. The surrounding land has changed as the metropolitan area has grown, yet Louviers retains a strong internal shape. It is a place where industrial design became neighborhood memory, and where a small settlement continues inside a much larger regional map.
