Loveland Park, OH

Loveland Park is a census-designated place spread across Symmes Township in Hamilton County and Deerfield Township in Warren County, along the Little Miami River. The name connects it to the nearby city of Loveland, but the CDP has its own small riverfront story. In the 1920s, a newspaper subscription promotion offered wooded lots along the river; those lots helped create the neighborhood, and Loveland Castle was built on two of them. In 1928, residents formed the nonprofit Loveland Park Association to look after the area.

Today, the river and castle remain the defining landmarks. Chateau Laroche, better known as Loveland Castle, sits on the Little Miami and grew from the camping and medieval-history interests of Harry Andrews and his Knights of the Golden Trail. The community's homes occupy a narrow patch of southwest Ohio between two townships and two counties, with the river serving as its geographic thread. Loveland Park is a place whose map was assembled from river lots, a homeowners' association, and one very memorable stone castle.
