Founded in 1870, the town earned its name from the local soldiers who left to serve the Union during the Civil War. That hometown pride continues today through long-standing local traditions, most notably the Loyal Corn Fest each August. The weekend festival brings the community together for tractor pulls, a Main Street parade, a fun run, and plenty of fresh sweet corn.
