Loyal, WI

Loyal is a Clark County city in central Wisconsin, surrounded by the larger Town of Loyal, which is a separate municipal record. The 2020 census counted 1,203 residents. The city sits in a dairy and grain farming area, with Main Street, the School District of Loyal campus, city offices, and three municipal parks carrying most daily errands. West Side Community Park has two baseball fields, a small golf course, volleyball court, pavilion, and a veterans memorial. The city also keeps a library and local businesses within the same compact service area.

Loyal was established in 1870, when logging, pioneer farming, and rail lines helped turn the settlement into an agricultural hub. The city name came from the patriotic men who left to serve the Union during the Civil War. August brings the Loyal Corn Fest, with a run and walk, corn on the cob, truck and tractor pulls, a parade on Main Street, and other downtown events. A September classic car show extends the calendar. The city has the small-town geography of Clark County: school, parks, farm roads, dairy work, and neighboring township land all meet at the same Wisconsin crossroads.
