About Lula

Lula is a town in Coahoma County, Mississippi, United States. The 2020 census counted 204 residents. Lula was chartered by the state of Mississippi on February 24, 1890 and platted a few years prior, when the Louisville, New Orleans, and Texas Railroad built a line through the area in 1884. On April 26, 2011, a tornado—part of the 2011 Super Outbreak —traveled from Elaine, Arkansas, to Lula. In Lula, history and present-day settings sit close enough to belong to the same local picture. The map tells the story in Lula, where earlier chapters remain visible in current streets, buildings, and gathering places. Lula is located near the northern border of Coahoma County. U.S. Route 49 passes southwest of the town, and U.S. Route 61 passes east of the town.
