Lumber City, GA

Lumber City sits at the confluence of the Ocmulgee and Oconee rivers, where they join to form the Altamaha in Telfair County. U.S. 23/341 runs through town, with McRae-Helena seventeen miles northwest and Hazlehurst seven miles southeast; Georgia Routes 19 and 117 add more lines to the map. The Georgia General Assembly incorporated Lumber City in 1889, and the town took its name from a sawmill near the original site.
