Lusk, WY

Lusk is Niobrara County’s seat on Wyoming’s High Plains, founded in 1886 after rancher Frank Lusk gave land for a townsite along the railroad. The Cheyenne–Deadwood stage route had already made the area a freight and passenger crossing during the Black Hills Gold Rush, and the Stagecoach Museum still holds an original coach on Main Street. Cattle ranching remains part of the local economy, while Washington Park and the town’s schools fill out the present map. Lusk is a Wyoming county seat where stage roads, rail, ranches, and county government meet.
