About Lynn
Lynn is a town in Washington Township, Randolph County, with 954 residents at the 2020 census. The town has a layered beginning: an original 1838 Quaker settlement stood about three miles south and one mile east of today's center; the present town took shape around 1847 and its plat was recorded in 1850. That history still matters because Lynn's local map is compact and centered on the later crossroads, where U.S. 36 meets U.S. 27. An F3 tornado passed through on March 10, 1986, damaging several homes, and no injuries were reported.
Most of Lynn's regular stops are close to that small center: the town has a park, ice cream shop, senior community center, two banks, two gas stations, a barber, a hair salon, and other shops. A flea market operates at the U.S. 36 and U.S. 27 intersection on weekends from spring through autumn. Randolph Southern School Corporation and the Lynn-Washington Township Public Library add regular civic stops. The result is a practical map: one central light, a handful of everyday businesses, a school, a library, and weekend traffic that broadens the town's reach.
