Lynnview, KY

Lynnview is a Jefferson County home rule-class city of 945 residents in the 2020 census, six miles south of downtown Louisville. Kentucky Route 61, known here as Preston Highway, forms the western edge, while Interstate 65 is just west of the city. Lynnview began as a 126-acre tract purchased by Louisville builder David H. Wilson in 1950, then was replatted with curving streets and smaller lots as a postwar subdivision. It incorporated on November 9, 1954.

The Lynnview Historic District follows the residential neighborhood between Preston Highway, Gilmore Lane, and Breitenstein Avenue. Most of its 456 properties are single-family homes, giving the place a consistent mid-century suburban pattern. Gilmore Lane and Breitenstein Avenue complete the neighborhood frame. City Hall sits on Gilmore Lane, and the Preston Corridor brings shopping, businesses, and Louisville connections to the western edge. Lynnview is compact, but its street plan carries a clear story: a planned neighborhood that became an independent city beside a major Louisville road.
