Lyons, GA

Lyons is the county seat of Toombs County, situated right where U.S. Routes 1 and 280 meet. It started as a late-19th-century railroad stop and has grown into a friendly, close-knit community with a laid-back Southern pace. Families moving here benefit from having the Toombs County school system based right in town, along with convenient highway connections to neighboring Vidalia. Downtown retains plenty of local character, including a unique 1940s terra-cotta mural tucked inside the post office, giving the area a comfortable, lived-in feel.
