About Madison
Madison is a Rockingham County town of 2,129 residents in the 2020 census, about 30 miles from Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point and within the Piedmont Triad orbit. U.S. 220 runs through town on the route planned for Interstate 73, giving Madison a strong north-south connection. The town's industrial story includes the former Remington Arms headquarters and the continuing Marlin Firearms presence, while a 1940 Works Progress Administration mural still hangs in the post office. Madison's two historic districts meet the present-day downtown, where restaurants, craft shops, florists, and other small businesses line the shopping streets.
Idol Park brings ballfields, a playground, basketball court, picnic shelter, and walking trails into the town's west side, and the Dan River has two local canoe and kayak launches. The town's community calendar keeps events moving through that downtown and park-centered layout. The result is a Piedmont town with a manufacturing thread, a preserved center, and river access built into the same regional road network.
