About Malone
Malone is a Jackson County town in north Florida, with 1,959 residents at the 2020 census. Florida State Road 2 runs through the center as Eighth Avenue, nine miles east to the Georgia border at the Chattahoochee River and 15 miles west to Campbellton. Jackson County School Board serves the town, and Malone School houses grades K–12. Farm roads, the state line, and the annual Pecan Festival give Malone a local map that reaches beyond its small downtown.

People lived around the Malone area long before the present town, and archaeological finds record earlier hunting, gathering, and farming communities. Jackson County was created in 1822, and white settlers began clearing farms in the surrounding area during the following decades. The local history also includes free Black and runaway slave communities living among Creek and Seminole people before and during that settlement period. Malone's school, pecan traditions, and border road now sit on top of those older layers of North Florida history.
