About Malvern

Malvern is a Mills County city where an old railroad line now runs through town as the Wabash Trace Nature Trail. The community appeared with the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad in 1869, one of the rail-born towns that reshaped southwest Iowa. The trail follows the former Wabash route, with a 3.6-mile concrete stretch through Malvern, while the Mills County Fairgrounds sit about half a mile south. Three miles southeast, the trail crosses the Nishnabotna River near the old location of White Cloud. Malvern is southwest Iowa with rails under the trail and a fairground still on the town map.
