Manchester is defined by its striking red-brick architecture along the Merrimack River. Back in the nineteenth century, the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company built the world's largest cotton mills here, designing the surrounding streets, parks, and downtown grid from the ground up. Just north of downtown, the Currier Museum of Art features an impressive collection of European and American works, including pieces by Monet, Picasso, and Georgia O'Keeffe, along with tours of two local homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. For fresh air, the Heritage Trail runs along the Merrimack River and connects directly to the Millyard riverwalk. It is a favorite path for morning jogs, dog walks, and bike rides, with open water views set against the city's classic brick buildings.

The Millyard has emerged as a national leader in biofabrication, led by the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute and supported by programs at the University of New Hampshire at Manchester. Getting in and out of town is simple, too. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport sits just a few minutes south of downtown, offering a quick, hassle-free alternative to Boston's Logan Airport for domestic flights and business trips.
