Manchester, VA

Manchester is a historic Richmond community on the south side of the James River. It was once an independent city and, before that, served as the county seat of Chesterfield County between 1870 and 1876. Today Manchester is part of Richmond, with historic districts, old industrial buildings, new apartments, and river access shaping its revival. It feels like one of the city's more layered neighborhoods: former civic center, industrial riverfront, and modern redevelopment zone, all facing downtown Richmond across the water.
