Manlius, IL

Manlius has an interesting history that explains how the village is laid out today. It originally grew just southeast of its current location, centered around an early schoolhouse, church, and general store. When the Chicago and North Western Railroad arrived in 1901, the community shifted over to build around the new tracks and grain elevator. While the trains stopped running decades ago, that turn-of-the-century move left behind the wide streets and rural layout you see today.
