About Marceline
Marceline is a city in Chariton and Linn counties that got its start as an Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe railroad town in the late 1880s. The rail line made it a division point, but Walt Disney is the name that carried Marceline far beyond Missouri: he arrived at age four in 1906, and the town's Main Street, farm memories, and trains later fed his imagination. The Walt Disney Hometown Museum sits in the restored Santa Fe depot, which is about as on-the-nose as a hometown landmark gets. Marceline is north-central Missouri in a rail-and-Disney story.
