About Marietta

Marietta is a city and the county seat of Washington County, Ohio, situated at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers. Founded in 1788, the historic river city of approximately 13,203 was the first permanent American settlement in the newly established Northwest Territory. The town features ancient Hopewell earthen mounds, is home to Marietta College, and is served by the Marietta City School District.
