A refrigerated skating loop and an interactive water feature now occupy the same central gathering space in Marion. Completed in May 2025, Central Plaza also includes a performance space, public art, and the enclosed Depot Pavilion; the loop recorded more than 5,000 visits during its first season. The $8.35 million project was funded by public and private sources and gives Uptown a year-round civic space. Another 2025 addition, Draper Park, marks Marion's railroad history and serves as a destination along the Grant Wood Trail. New playgrounds at Ascension Park and Taube Park/Wilkins Elementary also opened in 2025, with the latter available to the public outside school hours. Together, the projects make the older center useful for routine recreation as well as organized events.

The public library's first full year of bookmobile service was 2025. It also expanded MakerSpace hours by adding a full-time assistant, reached 1,000 enrolled children in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, recorded 180,378 visits, and reported more than 73,000 program attendances. Plans for 2026 include a food pantry and a community-wide read. The 2020-2024 estimates put owner occupancy at 77.4 percent, median owner-occupied value at $241,700, median gross rent at $961, and workers' mean travel time at 19.2 minutes. Median household income was $86,743 and the estimated poverty rate was 8.1 percent. Growth also has a housing-production side: the city's 2025 report cites an analysis projecting a need for 2,739 additional units through 2030 and identifies five apartment projects that were then underway.
