About Marion

Marion is Crittenden County’s home rule-class city, with U.S. 60 and U.S. 641 crossing through the center. Founded in 1842 and named for Revolutionary War general Francis Marion, the city now carries its county history through the Crittenden County Historical Museum in an 1881 church. The Ben E. Clement Mineral Museum adds a second, distinctly local collection, while Amish farms and shops surround the city in the rolling county. Marion is a western Kentucky county seat where highways, minerals, church history, and farm country meet.
