About Marion

Marion is a town and the county seat of Smyth County, Virginia, situated along Interstate 81 in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. Named for Revolutionary War officer Francis Marion and home to the historic Southwestern Virginia Mental Health Institute, the community of approximately 5,670 is served by the Smyth County Public Schools district.
