Markle, IN

Markle is a quiet, close-knit town of about 1,100 residents straddling the border of Huntington and Wells counties in northeast Indiana. Sitting right along the Wabash River and just off Interstate 69, it offers a relaxed small-town pace with straightforward commutes to Fort Wayne, Huntington, and Bluffton. Everyday life centers around quiet neighborhoods, local parks, and easy access to shopping and dining in the nearby county seats.

Originally founded in 1836 under the name Tracy, the community took off when the railroad arrived in the late nineteenth century. New grain mills, merchants, and residential streets quickly followed, leading to the town incorporating as Markle in 1889. From early trade along the Wabash to modern highway links, Markle has always grown around convenient travel routes while keeping its friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere.
