About Markleville

Markleville is a Madison County town on State Road 38 in southeastern Indiana, about seven miles east-southeast of Pendleton and within the broader Indianapolis-Carmel-Anderson orbit. John Markle laid out the town in 1852, and the name stuck as the settlement grew along the road. The White River and its tributary country lie nearby, while fields, drainage creeks, and straight county roads fill the space around town.

State Road 38 serves as Main Street, connecting the town west toward Pendleton and Noblesville and east toward New Castle.
