When shopping for a home, you have to keep Marquette's heavy winter weather in mind. Look closely at heating systems, roof pitch, insulation, and how easily you can clear snow from the driveway. A dedicated garage or off-street driveway is especially important because city plowing rules prohibit parking on the street overnight throughout the winter. Hillside properties often have gorgeous views of the bay, but steep driveways can get slick after a freeze. It also helps to consider wind exposure, since winter gusts coming off the lake will quickly test drafty windows and doors.
