Marshall is a city and the county seat of Lyon County, Minnesota, serving as a regional hub in the southwestern part of the state. Established in 1870 along the Redwood River, the community of approximately 13,900 is home to Southwest Minnesota State University. The city serves as the corporate headquarters of the Schwan Food Company, and features a major river diversion channel to protect the historic downtown from regional flooding.
