Marshallville, GA

Marshallville is a city in northeastern Macon County, Georgia, founded in the 1820s along the Flint River region. The land had been Creek territory before it was ceded to the state and distributed through Georgia's land lotteries. Families from North Carolina and German settlers from South Carolina arrived in the following years, and cotton shaped the town's early economy. Marshallville was incorporated as a town in 1854 and as a city in 1953.

The arrival of the Southwest Railroad in 1850 helped turn the crossroads into a trading center, with stores, a blacksmith, a well, and a depot. Later, fruit growing became the community's signature agricultural chapter. Samuel H. Rumph developed the Elberta peach and a refrigerator car that helped ship Southern fruit to distant markets. Georgia State Routes 49 and 127 now cross the city, leading toward Montezuma, Fort Valley, Perry, and Rupert. Historic homes and the old agricultural map give Marshallville a clear place in central Georgia, where cotton, peaches, railroads, and the Flint River region meet.
